Whiskey Myers Rocks Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre with Southern Swagger and Raw Power

CHARLOTTE, NC  With a sweltering Carolina summer sunset as the backdrop, Whiskey Myers stormed the stage at the Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre on Thursday night, bringing their signature blend of Southern rock grit, country soul, and outlaw attitude to a fired-up Charlotte crowd. The Texas-born band, delivered a set packed with heart, distortion, and unmistakable swagger.

The amphitheater, tucked into the buzzing NC Music Factory complex, was buzzing well before the band took the stage. Opening acts Josh Meloy and The Droptines set the tone, warming up the audience with twangy, heartfelt performances that primed fans for the main event. But once Whiskey Myers plugged in, the vibe shifted and the volume soared.

Launching straight into hard-charging favorites like “Gasoline” and “Frogman,” the band wasted no time igniting the night. Led by frontman Cody Cannon’s gravel-rich vocals and fueled by dueling guitars from John Jeffers and Cody Tate, Whiskey Myers delivered an unrelenting performance that left no doubt about their live firepower.

The setlist wove seamlessly through the band’s catalog, touching on everything from the gritty “Bury My Bones” to the emotional weight of “Broken Window Serenade.” Longtime fans were treated to a few surprises, too, including extended jam sessions and some deeper cuts that showed off the band’s blues and southern rock roots.

“We don’t talk much,” Cannon said with a grin midway through the set, “we just play.” And play they did with raw energy, thundering drums, and powerful stage chemistry that had the crowd on their feet from the first note to the last.

Though the overall sound was powerful, some fans noted that the vocals occasionally got lost beneath layers of electric guitar. Still, the sheer passion of the performance along with the stadium-sized energy in a relatively intimate venue more than made up for it. Fans sang, swayed, and screamed through every beat.

“Fifth time seeing them, and they just keep getting better,” one fan posted afterward. “They brought the house down tonight.”

The atmosphere was electric, with fans young and old donning Whiskey Myers shirts and cowboy hats, raising beers high as they shouted the lyrics. The band closed the night with a raucous encore, leaving fans sweaty, satisfied, and already counting down to the next show.

For those who came to hear stripped-down country ballads, the heavier rock approach might have been unexpected but for anyone wanting a loud, proud, and unapologetically Southern night of music, Whiskey Myers delivered in full force.
