Twenty One Pilots Ignite PNC Music Pavilion with Energy, Emotion, and Connection
With support from Dayglow
Wednesday night in Charlotte, Twenty One Pilots transformed the PNC Music Pavilion into a full-scale experience of sound, color, and emotion — the kind of show that blurs the line between concert and community. From the opening chords to the final burst of confetti, the duo delivered a performance that was as personal as it was powerful.
The evening began with a vibrant set from Dayglow, whose upbeat indie-pop grooves instantly won over the crowd. Songs like “Can I Call You Tonight?” and “Close to You” had the audience singing along and dancing under the fading daylight, setting the perfect mood for the night ahead.
When the lights dimmed and Twenty One Pilots took the stage, the Pavilion erupted in a wave of red and yellow. Fans proudly sported red and yellow duct tape, a now-iconic show of support for mental health awareness, a cause the band and their community hold close to heart. The sight was moving thousands standing together, unified not just by the music, but by the message.
Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun tore through hit after hit with their signature intensity a blend of rock, rap, and raw emotion. Midway through the set, the duo surprised the audience by leaving the main stage and making their way to a smaller stage set up behind the soundboard, right in the middle of the crowd. There, they performed a six-song mini set surrounded by fans, giving the back half of the Pavilion an up-close, intimate view rarely seen at large-scale shows.
After the stripped-down, emotionally charged segment, the pair returned to the main stage to finish the night with their biggest hits. As the final notes rang out, the lights turned deep red, bathing the entire venue in a haunting glow. The band brought the energy to its peak as graffiti cannons exploded into the night sky, raining down color and confetti while the crowd sang every word.
In classic Twenty One Pilots fashion, the show felt bigger than music. It was a night of connection, catharsis, and community a reminder that through shared struggles and triumphs, no one is ever truly alone.
