Drew & Ellie Holcomb Bring Heart, Harmony and Southern Soul to Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It was a hot summer night in Charlotte, but the heat was no match for the warmth and heart Drew and Ellie Holcomb brought to the stage at Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre.
The husband-and-wife duo took the stage Saturday night, September 5, as part of the NEEDTOBREATHE: The Long Surrender Tour, delivering a performance filled with heartfelt songs, beautiful harmonies and the kind of genuine connection with the audience that made the evening feel less like a concert and more like a gathering of friends.
Ellie Holcomb looked beautiful as she came onto the stage wearing a dark blue summer dress with a white scarf wrapped around her head, giving her a classic and relaxed summer look. Drew complemented her perfectly, stepping out in a light blue shirt, cream-colored hat and matching cream pants. Together, they looked every bit like the Southern musical couple fans have come to know and love.
From the moment Drew and Ellie stepped onto the stage, the crowd was ready. Despite the sweltering temperatures, fans filled the amphitheater, proving that a little summer heat wasn’t going to keep them away from an evening of music.
The couple opened their set with “Family,” immediately setting the tone for a night centered around love, relationships and the people who matter most. They followed with “Sweet Ever After,” giving fans an early taste of the chemistry that has made their musical partnership so special.
One of the highlights of the performance was the way Drew and Ellie played off one another throughout the set. Their voices blended naturally, creating moments that were both powerful and intimate. Songs such as “Rain or Shine,” “Flowers for No Reason,” “American Beauty” and “Find Your People” kept the audience singing along.
Ellie’s faith-centered music also brought a more reflective side to the performance. “Where Can I Go – Psalm 139” and “I Will Carry You” created some of the evening’s most emotional moments, allowing the crowd to slow down and simply take in the music.
The Holcombs continued with “Feels Like Home,” before moving into a medley that included “Live Forever,” “I Don’t Want to Miss It,” “What Would I Do Without You,” “Red Sea Road” and “Dance With Everybody.” The medley showcased the pair’s ability to move effortlessly between tender ballads and songs that had the entire audience on its feet. The published setlist also lists “Shut Up and Dance” as the closing number of their set.
What stood out most about Drew and Ellie Holcomb’s performance wasn’t elaborate production or flashy stage effects. It was the music itself. Their songs tell stories about family, love, faith, life’s challenges and the simple moments that often mean the most.
