Chris Stapleton Delivers a Powerful, No-Frills Performance at Bank of America Stadium
CHARLOTTE, N.C. Country music superstar Chris Stapleton brought his “All-American Road Show” to Bank of America Stadium on Saturday night, delivering a two-hour performance that proved once again why he is one of the most respected artists in modern country music.
The evening began with opening performances from rising country star Lainey Wilson and soulful singer Allen Stone, who warmed up the crowd before Stapleton took the stage. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, with overcast skies keeping temperatures comfortable and creating an ideal atmosphere for an outdoor concert.
When the lights dimmed, Stapleton emerged wearing a brown shirt and his signature cowboy hat, receiving a thunderous ovation from the Charlotte crowd. Wasting no time, he opened the show with “Bad As I Used to Be,” immediately followed by the high-energy “Arkansas.”
Unlike many stadium tours that rely heavily on pyrotechnics and elaborate stage productions, Stapleton’s show was refreshingly simple. There were no flashy gimmicks or over-the-top visual effects. Instead, the Kentucky native allowed his music to take center stage.
Stapleton has never been known for running across the stage or relying on theatrics. He limits his movement during performances, standing confidently with his guitar and letting his incredible voice do the work. Every note and lyric seemed to captivate the audience, proving that sometimes less truly is more.
One of the most memorable moments of the evening came when Stapleton noticed a young girl in the crowd holding up a sign that read, “Chris Stapleton, can I sing ‘Parachute’ with you?” Instead of simply acknowledging the sign, Stapleton made the little girl’s dream come true by inviting her on stage. The crowd erupted with cheers as the young fan joined him, creating a heartwarming moment that showcased not only Stapleton’s talent but also his genuine connection with his fans.
One of the highlights of the evening was the presence of his wife, Morgane Stapleton, whose beautiful harmonies added another layer of emotion to the songs. The chemistry between the two is undeniable, and her vocals perfectly complemented Chris’s signature raspy sound throughout the night.
For two hours, Stapleton delivered hit after hit, taking fans on a musical journey filled with heartfelt ballads, blues-infused country, and Southern rock influences. The crowd sang along to nearly every song, creating an intimate atmosphere despite the massive stadium setting.
As the night came to a close, Stapleton returned for an encore featuring the emotional “Sometimes I Cry” before ending the evening with the powerful “Outlaw State of Mind.” The final notes echoed through Bank of America Stadium as thousands of fans stood cheering for one of country music’s finest performers.
Saturday night’s concert was a reminder that great music doesn’t need elaborate production or flashy stage antics. Chris Stapleton simply walked on stage, played his songs, and let his extraordinary talent speak for itself and that was more than enough.
