No ones heavy metal playlist is complete with out Motörhead in your rotation. You can’t go to a concert anywhere with out looking around the audience and not be a sea of Motörhead shirts along with AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin. They are one of the most iconic metal bands, that has been rocking us since 1975. After putting out their 22nd studio album, witch I thought was totally vintage Motörhead with the unmistakable scratchy vocals of front man Lemmy and the grungy screaming guitar of Phil “Wizzo” and booming drums of Mikky Dee. Setting out on tour celebrating 40 years of making us bang our heads I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to cover this show and after getting the line-up, I was even more excited .
Crobot is a new fast rising band that has that throw back sound and look with new edge to them. Then you add another iconic metal band Anthrax and you have a real rock show. As I expected, when I got to the Fillmore the line was around the building, the crowd looked like a black sea of Motörhead shirts. Crobot and Anthrax were outstanding as they wormed up the crowd. The anticipation was building as the fans were awaiting Motörhead to take the stage. Line checks all done, guitars tested and tuned, lights come on and here we go. Microphone was set up high and Lemmy standing in front with bass in his hands, it was classic Motörhead.
I think that was the loudest I’ve ever herd the Fillmore, Lemmy even asked the fans if it was loud enough for the them, and they just cheered. The Fillmore lights were great as always. About half way through the show I looked out at the crowd all I could see was fist pumping and heads banging, it was like being in heavy metal heaven. Motörhead put unbelievable rockin’ performance, mixing in all their greatest hits and their new music as well. That’s why this band has with stood the test of time. I hope they don’t change the bands line-up, Crobot, Anthrax and Motörhead all seem to complement each other making it a must see show.
