For those who don’t know he was the lead singer of the rock band Skid Row replacing Matt Fallon at the age of 18 in 1987. I had mixed feelings going into this show. I know that many musicians who rise to success tend to fall of due to drugs, alcohol or just from the hard life of touring. The opening band, who I want even mention, needs a new sound engineer. They had three part harmony vocals that I didn’t have the pleasure to enjoy because the volume was so loud it was distorted. I have been to numerous shows at Amos’ and know that their in house sound engineer is one if not the best in Charlotte. I’m not saying that to be nice. I am a sound engineer and Phil always does a quality job for nationals as well as local bands. As i stood at the back door with Sebastian just two feet away I couldn’t help but wonder if he could still hit the notes that he was able to hit thirty years ago. Sebastian hit the stage with high energy and a well receptive roaring crowd. He told everyone he was going to do two sets and he did! Lots of people have stated that he uses tracks for his vocals. That he can’t hold his own. Well ladies and gentlemen those are all lies. I watched as kids and adults rocked out to a front man who puts on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. At one point his microphone almost fell from his hand thus proving it was his voice not some vocal track coming through the speakers. As far as the rumors of Sebastian “hard to handle” I saw none of that. For some reason the pedal board for the guitar player kept coming unplugged. Sebastian and the rest of the band just kept on playing without missing a beat. Sebastian reminds me of going and seeing Jackyl. Both front men know how to interact with the crowd and have a good time while hitting notes most can only dream of. In closing, if you have a chance to go see Sebastian Bach do so. I recommend standing front row.
Thanks again to Amo’s Southend, Nickel & Dime Entertainment, Hannah Lee Photography, Sebastian Bach and Charlotte Rock Review for a kick a$$ show!!
