Parkway Drive @ Fillmore NC

Parkway Drive is an Australian metalcore band formed in 2003. As of 2018 they had released six studio albums, one EP, two DVD’s, a split album and one book. The band’s latest four albums reached the top 10 in the Australian ARIA Charts.

It’s been a long time coming. The last time I saw the band was at Louder Than Life festival in 2015. I’ve been anticipating this for some time and now here we are. The show was sold out. People started gathering early outside the venue hoping to get that perfect spot up close to the stage. The tour featured two supporting acts Memphis May Fire and Currents.

It’s time, Parkway Drive hits the stage playing “Glich” and “Prey”. The crowd was crazy, jumping and singing and the crowd surfing was insane. The feeling you get inside the photo pit watching the crowd go crazy and trying to get your pictures without getting hit by crowd surfers is crazy. The stage had risers placed the whole length of the stage, with fog and strobing white, red and blue lights. The production was minimal, but who cares. The sound was on par.

McCall spotted a young boy crowd surfing and asked how old he was. The youngster was only 8 years old. With that being said, McCall pulled him up on stage and placed him on his back. The band started playing “Boneyards” and then proceeded to start running in circles. This young man got the experience of a lifetime. The audience is still heavy at it, with multiple mosh pits, and endless crowd surfers.

As the night winds down, the band plays their last two songs, “Crushed” and “Wild Eyes”. At this point, I don’t think anyone is left with a voice, not even me. It was an incredible night and one I will not forget for a long time. Thank you, Parkway Drive. You brought it and raised the roof.
